Our vision is to help guests off the streets long-term. Every guest in the night shelter meets with an employed Advocate Worker. These workers ‘get alongside’ the guests, understand why they are homeless and work with them to help them access the most appropriate available accommodation. This process can include acquiring new forms of identification, establishing benefit claims, accessing physical and mental health services, accessing substance mis-use support and receiving immigration advice. Typical permanent accommodation options include: Shared supported housing, hostels, a flat in the private-rented sector, rehabilitation centres, returning to family either in the UK or abroad and accommodation for asylum seekers.
A number of guests have shared their experiences of transitioning from the streets to housing with GrowTH’s assistance. Click on the button below for their stories. More guest stories can also be found in our published annual reports.
