The night shelter is run for seven months of the year by a partnership of local churches in Tower Hamlets. Every night of the week the shelter is in a different church and run by volunteers who serve side by side cooking meals, putting up beds, and chatting to guests. Guests are referred to GrowTH by Tower Hamlets based referral agencies, such as a local GP surgery and a day centre. Guests arriving at the shelter can expect a hot dinner and breakfast, a warm bed for the night and the volunteers will often provide activities in the shelter, such as board games or painting.
Because spiritual support is also vitally important, guests will have the opportunity to take part in optional short Bible studies if they wish to. Guests can stay in the shelter for up to 28 nights whilst they receive resettlement help from our employed Advocate Workers in securing permanent accommodation.
GrowTH is a partnership of churches across Tower Hamlets and beyond from a variety of denominations and backgrounds, brought together to serve our guests.
