GROWTH DAY CENTRE

"... I feel more hopeful about my future"

Our daycentre is now open!  At GrowTH, we are always seeking to review and improve the work that we do. The pandemic allowed us an opportunity to try a different model of shelter. There were many advantages to the static shelter format, and although (after much consideration) we have chosen to return to the church-based night shelter model, we wanted to learn from these last two years and incorporate elements into our future plans.

To that end, we have opened a daycentre, to complement our winter night shelter. The daycentre is a place where our shelter guests can relax in the daytime, helping to combat the problem of having to wander the streets in the winter months, seeking refuge until the shelter doors open in the evening. Big comfy sofas, WiFi, computers, books, even hot water bottles (!) and endless tea and coffee are available daily.

Guests are able to store some of their luggage , to relieve them of this (literal) burden and also enjoy some table tennis.

The meetings with the Advocate Workers are conducted here, and we are also planning an expanded timetable of activities, such as opportunities to build relationships and friendships,  as well as bible studies and faith events.

If you would like to visit the day centre to learn more, or to provide a friendly face and listening ear for our guests, please contact tony@thisisgrowth.org.

The day centre is currently open to our night shelter guests from 10.00am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. The day centre will be closed over the Christmas week, from the 23rd December to the 1st January 2024.
