Volunteers for the winter night shelter are primarily arranged through our partner churches. Each church has a GrowTH Coordinator, who will arrange the rota for their allocated night. There are three shifts to cover; an evening shift (6.30pm-10pm), an overnight shift (10pm-7am) and a breakfast shift (7am-9am).
Each shift has different requirements, so there really is a role for everyone! Perhaps you love to cook, or perhaps you love to talk and engage with the guests. We need many different skills to make a brilliant shelter!
If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering this coming season then please email firstname.lastname@example.org so you can be directed to a partner church.
Last season we opened a daycentre, to complement our winter night shelter. The purpose of the day centre is to be a place where our shelter guests can relax in the daytime to help combat the problem of wandering the streets in the winter months. The day centre has big comfy sofas, WiFi, computers, books, even hot water bottles (!) and endless tea and coffee are available daily.
Guests are able to store some of their luggage, to relieve them of this (literal) burden and also enjoy some table tennis.
If you are interested in volunteering in the day centre to spend time with guests or cook lunch for them then please email email@example.com
If you would like to volunteer in our housing project, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Perhaps you would like to do some gardening alongside our residents, teach them to cook, or simply enjoy a coffee and offer friendship. We would love to grow this aspect of our project, so please do get in touch!
