OUR VISION

"Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the help from GrowTH.
God bless you all. Thank you!"

At GrowTH, our vision is to see God transform the lives of marginalised men and women in Tower Hamlets, for His glory. At our core, we are a partnership of churches who love our homeless neighbours and demonstrate that love through the provision of a church-based night shelter, offering a hot evening meal, a warm bed, a listening ear and breakfast the next day. This season to combat the problem of guests having to wander the streets in the winter months we have opened a day centre as well. Our housing project provides supported accommodation as a follow on for some of our shelter guests. All our guests and residents are offered the opportunity to learn about the Christian faith, as we believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ brings true transformation, healing and wholeness.

Engagement with the Christian faith is entirely optional however, and all guests are welcomed into GrowTH without question, discrimination or favour.

Our three current projects are the emergency night shelter, day centre, and the housing project:

Night shelter

The night shelter provides emergency shelter for homeless men and women as well as assistance in securing further, more permanent  accommodation. Our night shelter operates for seven months of the year (from October through the April) and guests are welcomed from the local area without discrimination or favour.

Housing Project

The housing project is for formerly homeless men and women, helping them to transition from homelessness to independent living. It is a much-needed ‘stepping stone’  on what, for many, is a difficult journey.

Day Centre

The daycentre is for a place where our shelter guests can relax in the daytime, seeking refuge until the shelter doors open in the evening. Big comfy sofas, WiFi, computers, books, even hot water bottles (!) and endless tea and coffee are available daily.

What we believe

GrowTH is a Christian charity that is motivated and rooted in the Bible.
We agree with the Evangelical Alliance’s statement of faith:

  • The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
  • The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  • The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
  • The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
  • The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness
  • The church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers — given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
  • The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.
